Introduction

The European Space Agency (ESA) is organising a series of technical and/or scientific training courses that are aimed at promoting and disseminating Earth Observation (EO) technology in a variety of scientific and industrial fields.

In 2011 ESA in cooperation with the University of Szeged, Hungary is organizing a training course named: Radar Remote Sensing Course that is addressed to participants from universities, from the scientific community, or from institutions and organisations making use of geoinformation.

The course will provide participants with an introduction to microwave remote sensing technology as well as examples of end - user applications of this technique within the environmental field. The course is dedicated to researchers, students, PhD students, and young professionals from Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary, who use EO technology within their daily work and would like to improve their knowledge of radar remote sensing.

The training will take place on 13-17/06/2011 and will be hosted by the Department of Physical Geography and Geoinformatics, University of Szeged in Hungary. The candidates are asked to fill in an online registration form. The participants will be selected by the hosting organisation and by ESA on the basis of their knowledge and experience in the field of remote sensing and the relevance of RS techniques in their work. The candidates will be informed via e-mail about the final decision.

There is 100 Euro fee for the course (it contains tea- and coffee breaks, lunch and cost of printed materials) and participants are obliged to cover all other expenses (travel cost, accommodation, subsistence, etc.).
