Environmental History Research Centre – University of Szeged (SzTE)
WHY, WHEN, WHERE?
The main aim to create such a centre is to establish a common platform and an institutional background (both in history and geography/environmental sciences) for those scientists (researchers, PhD students and lecturers), either historians, geographers, archaeologists or environmental scientists by training (working in Szeged or other places in Hungary), who wish to take part and collaborate in environmental history-related research.
In one or more smaller or larger projects most of the current members have already worked together – at that time forming temporary small research groups (e.g. historical landscape and environment of Lake Fertő/Neusiedlersee; complex analysis of deserted vine terraces in North-Hungary etc.).
The group¢re was founded on 1st January 2011 at the University of Szeged, Hungary. The research group¢re is hosted by two departments (and institutes): the Department of Physical Geography and Geoinformatics (School of Geography and Geosciences), and the Department of Historical Auxiliary Sciences (Institute of History).
